We’ve covered the great functionality of Multi-Entity Search in CRM2015 here.
Microsoft has included, right in the Command Bar, a great magnifying glass icon that takes us right to a page with a search window. Typing an Account name will bring up Opportunities, Cases, Contacts with the word Coho- which is an awesome feature!
This is available across Custom Entities, in addition to out-of-the-box entities.
To configure entities for the search, navigate to Settings/ Administration/ System Settings. Scroll down to find “Set Up Quick Find”.
Note: Enable Quick Find Record Limits sets a limit to the amount of records CRM will search (a feature that was available in CRM 2011). The max here is 10,000 records (when enabled) to optimize search speed/ functionality.
Open Select entities for search, and the screen below will open and allow you to add or remove entities to search across. This again, can include custom entities, but is a max of 10 entity types.
The Quick Find View “Find Columns” are the fields used to search for the records where Multi-Entity Quick Find is enabled.
Setup for Multi-Entity Search in CRM2015 is as simple as that!
