Microsoft has heard and delivered on some requests that are exciting for users!
You’ve likely seen and approved your upgrade date- so you know when this will be coming your way. A great function we’re getting with CRM2015 is Multi-Entity Search. It’s as simple as this: wouldn’t it be nice to see any record associated with an Account, or with a specific word? Ask and you shall receive.
Right up in the Command Bar (which means it’s always displayed wherever you are working in CRM, no need to click home, or back, or navigate to a particular area) you’ll see a magnifying glass icon.
Click there and you’ll pop right into a search area, without opening a new window.
Here you can type in what makes sense to you. Maybe you want to see all records with the word “Veterinary” because it’s something that may recur in your CRM from Opportunities, Accounts, Cases, etc. You could enter that and it would search across the entities in CRM. Let’s use Coho as an example. This is an Account in CRM. We have Contact, Case, and Opportunity records related. They will all be displayed just by typing in the word “Coho”.
As expected, you can hover and click the icon/ text area for the record and you’d be taken right to the record.
If there is a lot of data and you want to narrow it down, or once you start your search, you realize you just want to see all records of one entity you can use “Filter with” to the right of the search area, and it will display only those record types.
This saves steps, times, and increases user confidence that you’re finding what you need to, or a comprehensive view of the Account/Contact/Opportunity/ Record.
